The 2006 Illumination Engineers Society Australia and New Zealand 2006 Lighting Awards were announced at an event in Auckland on Friday 13th October. Ports of Auckland were awarded the RASNZ Dark Sky Award for their refitting of outdoor area lighting with sky friendly and energy efficient fittings. |

The new, more efficient lighting is producing 10 times less light spill outside port operational areas and substantially less glare. The recent lighting upgrade is also expected to cut the company’s electricity use by 15% a year. |
