The Bright Star Award shall be awarded to a person or persons at intervals of not more than five years nor less than one year for contributions in New Zealand in promoting astronomy to the public, or in astronomical education, or in promoting dark skies to allow astrotourism to flourish.

The recipient of the award shall be a resident of New Zealand of at least three years standing and need not be a member of the society. Normally a person may only receive the award once. The deadline for nominations is 23 February 2024. You can find the nomination form on:
